And we let you know up-front how much you will net on the boat.

Step 1—Contact us to make sure your boat is a good candidate for consignment. We’ll need to know the make, model, year, motor(s), options and accessories. We book the boat with an accepted national valuation service (NADA) and assess realistic market fit. We suggest a selling price (retail) and come to an agreement with you regarding how much you will receive on the sale (wholesale plus). This fixed price you will receive means we don't have to contact you repeatedly for every lowball offer or for various scenarios proposed by potential buyers (can you throw in an anchor and fish finder?). We'll sort that out for you!

Step 2—Clean and detail your boat including inside hatches and under seats. If you can’t or don’t want to do this yourself, local auto detail shops are a good option. Clean shiny boats sell the quickest.

Step 3—Schedule a used boat evaluation with our service department ($175) which includes engine and drive analysis including the function of shifter and cables; safety equipment check; accessory operation and condition; trailer roadworthiness etc. The goal is to make sure the buyer of your boat can use it immediately.

Step 4—We take photos which we post on our website. We also post a clear description of the accessories and condition of your boat. Our website receives over 3000 boat shoppers a month during the spring and summer, and we've had demonstrated success selling consigned boats on our website.

Step 5—Your boat receives the same professional sales efforts as our own inventory: phone and internet response to leads; scheduling a time to show the boat; offer potential buyers financing through credit unions or banks; handle licensing and title work. Once the sale is completed and funded, your primary role is to pick up a check!
